VISITING City Light FOR THE FIRSt Time?

City Light Church

3075 Shimmons Rd. Auburn Hills, MI 48326
Inside of Oakland Christian School

We know visiting a church for the first time can feel intimidating. Our hope is simple: that you feel welcomed, comfortable, and seen from the moment you arrive.

At City Light, the atmosphere is upbeat, relational, and high-energy. We’re a Christian non-denominational church that tries to feel more like a welcoming community than a formal institution. Many people describe City Light as feeling more like family than simply attending a service.

Whether you’ve been in church your whole life, haven’t been in years, or have never been before, you are welcome here

Here are some FAQ's that might help

1. WHAT TIME ARE SERVICES?
We currently have two Sunday services: 9:30 AM & 11:00 AM. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early if it’s your first visit, especially if you have kids to check in.he description goes.
2. WHAT IF I HAVE KIDS?
We love kids at City Light. For children 5th grade and younger, we provide free childcare and age-appropriate environments with fun activities, teaching, and caring volunteers. All kids' volunteers are background checked before serving.

Do I need to register my kids ahead of time?
No registration is needed before arriving. We simply recommend coming a little early to get your children checked in. But, if you like to plan ahead, you can pre-register your child(ren) here.

How check-in works
When you enter the main doors, head right to the kids' area to register your child. You’ll receive two matching labels:
one for your child, and one for you to keep for secure pickup.

Middle & High School Students
Students have their own environment led by our Youth team during 11am service in the lower level.  Simply go to the kids check in area and they will show them where to go.

Babies & Nursing Moms
If you have a baby under 18 months old, we have a private Mother’s Room located in the women's restroom where you can feed, change, and listen to the service comfortably.
3. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Come as you are. Most people dress somewhere between casual and business casual. You’ll see everything from shorts to jeans and hoodies to dresses and button-ups. You do not need to dress a certain way to belong here.
4. WHERE DO I PARK?
We have two parking areas available at the church, a lower lot and upper lot. If you need help finding a spot or getting into the building, our parking and welcome teams are happy to help.
5. WHERE DO I GO?
On nice days there will be a visible orange tent in front of the building. This is where you check in so our team can show you around, and make sure it’s an awkward free Sunday. When the weather isn’t as nice, you will find the orange table just inside the front doors of the building. Our team is excited to connect with you and help make your first visit a great experience.
6. CAN I COME ALONE?
Absolutely. Many people come on their own for the first time. You won’t be singled out or pressured, and our team would be happy to help you feel comfortable.
7. DO YOU PROVIDE DRINKS OR SNACKS?
Yes! We offer free coffee, tea, water and bagels.
8. WHAT IS THE WORSHIP/MUSIC LIKE?
We have live worship with a modern Christian band. The environment is energetic, authentic, and focused on helping people connect with God.
9. WHAT IF THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD FOR ME?
We understand everyone has different comfort levels with sound. We provide earplugs for anyone who would like them.

If you can’t find them, ask one of our ushers wearing a lanyard, and they’ll help you.
10. HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
Most services last about 60–70 minutes.
11. CAN I LEAVE DURING SERVICE IF NEEDED?
Of course. If you need a moment to stretch, step away, or take a break, we have seating available just outside the auditorium.
12. IS THERE A GUEST INFORMATION AREA?
Yes! After the service, you can head back to the orange table  or tent and our team will happily answer any questions you might have.
13. DO YOU OFFER A LIVESTREAM?
Yes! You can watch live on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@CityLightChurchMI
14. STILL NERVOUS?
That’s completely okay. A lot of people walk through our doors unsure of what to expect. Our goal isn’t perfection — it’s helping people find community, hope, and a place to belong. We’d love to meet you.
